Highlights from my 5-day weekend with Hareem (Yes, we ate a lot.)
- Waitress forcing Hareem to eat the carrot garnish and watching to make sure she does.
- No waiting time at Serendipity, but still concluding that the frozen hot chocolate and ice cream sundae are way overrated. On the bright side, our waiter was from Evanston!
- Watching The Game premiere. (NOTE: It was terrible.)
- Sleeping in four out of the five mornings.
- Sledding in Central Park even though we crashed into trees, dogs, and little kids/their parents.
- Best burgers in NYC at J.G. Melon.
- Hareem making fun of me crying during the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In my defense, it was a sad mother-daughter moment that made me miss my mom.
- Getting on a plane with literally 3 minutes to spare. Ok, this was actually probably one of the worst parts now that I think about it.
- Hareem: “So what do you do to unwind?” Girl: “We have puppet theaters.”
- Blue Valentine.
- Meeting Delia, and her asking me if I have a boyfriend.
- Homemade chocolate chip pancakes, A Salt & Battery fish and chips, and Stand’s toasted marshmallow milkshake and a peanut butter cup milkshake all within the span of 4 hours.
- Rare books room at Strand, and Strand in general.
- Mani/pedis and massages.
- Skirt steak and s’mores at Gyu-Kaku with Courtney and Suegene.
- Awesome music at Revel in the Meatpacking District. Seriously. We were there for an hour and they played everything from Naughty by Nature and Bill Biv Devoe to Cyndi Lauper and Mariah Carey to Miley Cyrus and Edward Maya.
- Sad but hilarious Subway goodbyes.
- Brioche French toast for breakfast, followed by brunch at Bobby Flay’s Bar Americain(e).
- Free flowers and browsing around handmade jewelry store in Soho.
- Not finding much while shopping for dresses, but trying on floor length gowns at Top Shop for fun.
- Mamma Mia!
- Coming up with brilliant themes for college parties on the way home.
- Lamb and rice from 53rd/6th while watching the Golden Globes and discussing which of our friends would make the best Red Carpet host. Conclusion: Not Aamir.
- Irish eye candy.
- Phone call with DarDarDar.
- Editing our sledding movie (see finished result above).
- Counting down to next reunion: 2 months!
